NEED JESUS?
You've heard that the first step towards accepting Christ is the hardest... well it seems like you've already put one foot forward by coming to this page. The Lord has a laid out a path for you to continue putting one foot in front of the other in that he has given us the best set of directions we'll ever choose to follow, The Romans Road. In the book of Romans, the apostle Paul relays to us the plan of eternal salvation through Jesus Christ...
Romans 3:23 "...for all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God."
For the most part we all would like to think of ourselves as "good" people who do "good" deeds, but even our very best doesn't compare to the Glory of a Holy and Righteous God. God is perfect by His very nature and as such has zero tolerance for sin. We are imperfect by our nature, born into sin. Have you ever told a lie? Had an immoral thought? Don't worry you are not alone, but nevertheless we all fall short of His Glory.
Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."
We've all experienced or at least heard of minimum wage right? That wonderful hourly dollar amount paid to people by their employers as their lowest possible salary. Well sin has one salary, one payment and that payment is death. Death to the body, death to the soul, death for eternity. As we are born into sin (has anyone ever taught you how to think a lustful thought, or how to lie, how about how to be jealous) we are to pay the ultimate price through death and eternal separation from God. After all none of us are good enough to make it into Heaven on our own merit. God has given us an opportunity through His son Jesus Christ to defeat death and to over come that "wage of sin". Let's walk on...
Romans 5:8 "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."
Despite who we are, inside and out, God loves us unconditionally. In other words, He knows we are sinners and we are not perfect and yet He still wants us to spend eternity in Heaven with Him. He wants that so much that He sent His only perfect son Jesus Christ to this earth to live a perfect life and to die a sinners death on an old rugged cross. A death that He was undeserving of, but that we are not. Jesus stepped up so that God the Father could look upon His life instead of looking at ours when opening the gates to Heaven. Jesus did this knowing that you and I would struggle with accepting His Lordship in our lives, but He did it anyway. Knowing that some of us would go to the grave denying His birth, death, burial and resurrection and push away His gift of eternal life...He did it anyway.
Romans 10:13 "for 'WHOEVER WILL CALL ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED.'"
Seem too simple? Does it really....or does it sound like the only logical thing the Lord would want us to do? Everything laid out so far in this Romans Road shows all that the Lord has done without any input or action on our part. We are just here, imperfect in all our ways, and yet He has decided to give us a way for eternal salvation through His son. Would there be anything else He would want to hear more than our voice as we cry out to Him for salvation, acknowledging all He has done and will do for us?
Romans 10:9-10 "that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation."
There it is my friend, it takes a whole hearted belief in Jesus Christ as His plan of salvation has been laid out here on The Romans Road. If you are ready to accept this gift of salvation, to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of your life, say this prayer:
Jesus I know I am sinner. I now know that because of my sin I cannot enter into Heaven, into an eternal relationship with God the Father. Jesus I believe that you came to this earth knowing that you would suffer for my sin and you willingly gave up your glory for me. Jesus thank you for your love, your unconditional love. I believe that you are the Risen Savior, that you lived a perfect life here on earth, were crucified on a cross meant for me, died in the flesh and were buried in the tomb. Jesus I believe on the third day your rose from the dead, conquering Hell and winning the victory over Satan, and you ascended into Heaven to sit at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. You are the Risen Savior. I cry out to you now Jesus, come into my life and be my savior.
If you've said this "Sinner's Prayer" and have believed in Jesus Christ with all your heart through it, you are now a sinner saved by Grace. The bible tells us the next steps are to follow Jesus in baptism and to get involved in a bible believing church amongst fellow Christians, fellow sinners saved by Grace. Let us encourage you to pursue Jesus with everything you've got, He wants nothing less and deserves all of that and more.
